With asparagus season underway, excitement is growing for the annual Asparafest food and music festival, taking place this year on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 June 2017 at Ashdown Farm, Evesham.

Recently voted ‘Best Festival in Worcestershire’ in the What’s On Readers’ Awards 2017, this year’s Asparafest is celebrating Vale of Evesham asparagus being granted Protected Geographical Indicator status.

The festival runs on from Saturday 10am – 11pm to Sunday 10am – 5pm and offers camping or weekend tickets.

For visitors across all ages, Asparafest 2017 has plenty on its menu.  Asparamancer and Gus the Asparagus Man will be in residence as usual, following Gus’ recent trip to Brussels to deliver Vale of Evesham asparagus to MEP’s at the European Parliament. The music line up over 2 stages is a colorful mix including rhythm & blues masters Dr Feelgood, festival favourites 3 Daft Monkeys, The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican and The Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band plus local heroes The Peas, Tazmin Barnes and more.

For children, cBeebies Mr Bloom (Sat) and Katy Ashworth (Sun) are making a welcome return, alongside storytelling, falconry, the Asparalympics and children’s crafts.

In addition, stalls selling local food delicacies and gifts, street food, vintage vehicles, a fun fair, a real ale and cider tent and of course loads of asparagus enjoy guarantee a weekend well spent.

Festival organiser Tash Daly comments:  “Vale of Evesham asparagus has been making the news recently with lots of news and great stories.  Clearly our enthusiasm for asparagus is spreading, so we are excited about Asparafest being bigger and better than ever before this year!”
