Acorns Children’s Hospice is helping to spread some festive cheer by unveiling its 2016 range of Christmas cards.
The range features 27 cards in a variety of seasonal designs, including three creations designed by children cared for by Acorns. All proceeds from sales of the cards will go towards the charity and its work caring for children and young people and providing support for their families.
Val Hammond, Acorns regional manager, said: “We’re delighted to reveal this year’s selection of Christmas cards. There’s a fantastic range of designs to choose from and whatever your taste, there will be the right card for you.”
The cards designed by children were created as part of an arts and crafts session at Acorns. The sessions are part of therapeutic and fun opportunities provided by the charity to allow children to express themselves, regardless of ability.
Val continued: “Not only are these great seasonal cards to send to friends and family, but there’s the extra element that you’ll be helping support Acorns vital work caring for children and their families.”
Acorns provides specialist round the clock care for life-limited and life-threatened children and young people. In the past year the charity, which operates hospices in Birmingham (Selly Oak), Walsall for the Black Country and Worcester for the Three Counties, has cared for over 830 children and more than 1,062 families, including those who are bereaved.
To continue its care, Acorns must raise almost £10 million every single year and relies on fundraising, including income from Christmas cards for the majority of this amount.
The cards can be purchased from selected Acorns shops, or by calling 01564 825 027.
