Local ‘Besties’ Kerrie and Becca are in preparation for one of the World Marathon Majors, the London Marathon.
Kerrie and Becca Best, two friends from Droitwich who happen to share the same surname, are teaming up to take on the country’s most well-known running event in April, all in aid of the Children and Young People’s Services of two sexual violence charities, West Mercia Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WMRSASC) and Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (CRASAC).
The pair have been training in earnest since November, and despite various difficulties, not to mention the harsh weather the area has recently faced, they are making excellent progress and completed a 20 mile run last weekend.
Kerrie reported that she and Becca “ran together the whole 20 miles and finished feeling good so we have a good plan for the actual marathon.” She added, “I am not complacent about how hard the final 6.2 miles are likely to be but they feel achievable now.”
As a project worker and counsellor at WMRSASC, Kerrie has seen the need for the Children and Young People’s Service and the two are determined to raise the goal of £2000. You can sponsor them at uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Team/Besties4
The pair now have custom technical running vests, sponsored by Heroes Bar in Worcester, designed free of charge by The Antidote Design Company and produced by Scimitar Sports.
As part of their fundraising efforts The Old Rectifying House in Worcester is kindly hosting a Marvellous Marathon Market event on Sunday 15th April, where all are welcome to come, explore and enjoy the wide variety of stalls and amusements. Live music will be provided throughout the day by local acts Ben Hall, Poppy Waterman-Smith, Kringo Blue, Ruben Seabright, Chip Langley and the Kidgloves and Immy and the Boatman who are all donating their time and talent to the event, which will continue well into the evening as the Marvellous Marathon Market DJs take over.
