With the closure of the All Sorts of Performing Arts Studio under Covid-19 lockdown rules All Sorts now offers a range of online classes.
They are delivered in two formats – recorded videos via the All Sorts website and scheduled Live Zoom classes.
All Sorts currently offers over 30 recorded videos including Mini All Sorts, Cheer Dance, Street, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Fitness, Arts & Crafts and production clips such as Peter Pan, Snow White, Cinderella and Aladdin.
On Zoom live workshops for Drama, Mini All sorts, Musical Theatre, Street, Cheer Dance and Dance Fusion. Also, for the first time on Zoom, a production of Alice in Wonderland with a cast of ten.
Other initiatives include All Sorts challenges, Quizzes and Story Time for younger children.
Principal Stuart Inglis said “Everyone has been tremendous and pulled together to make this happen, we’ve had 1100 volunteer hours so far from teachers and supporters, the classes and clips have been very popular with nearly 2500 views and 500 more on youtube. They help entertain children in lockdown, they keep them active and provide an opportunity to socialise.”
They are currently taking bookings for their Zoom Summer Holiday workshops which will run for three weeks.
All Sorts believe their classes contribute to physical and mental health and wellbeing and are particularly needed now. A recent poll reported that 44% of people said their overall happiness had deteriorated, whilst 41% now have weight issues and 26% said their health was worse.
Stuart added “We are extending our range of online classes further and considering an online talent contest. Whilst there is no substitute for the benefits of group activities, or the excitement of the production of a live onstage show to a real audience, I believe we will continue with our online classes even after lockdown has ended”.
Worcester Mayor Jo Hodges said “I am very pleased to hear from Stuart that so many activities are still available for the students at All Sorts Academy. It is so important that our young people feel able to continue with their dance and drama at this difficult and challenging time. My sincere thanks go to all volunteers and teachers and to Stuart himself for ensuring that all Sorts students and their families have been able to stay active and involved. Congratulations to all!! ”
