The Vehicle Network has announced their support for Worcester Warriors Community Foundation as an ongoing dedication to critical issues such as homelessness across Worcestershire. Keen rugby fan, David Middleton, Owner and Director of The Vehicle Network pledges his support for the charity based at the Worcester Warriors Rugby Club, by participating in this year’s CEO Sleepout event being held at Sixways Stadium on Thursday 26th April.
Worcester Warriors Community Foundation exists to help build a legacy for sport, education, health and social cohesion across the communities and aims to engage and inspire young people through the power of sport, in particularly, the game of rugby. This year’s CEO Sleepout is just one of the ways the charity is supporting the local community, this time with the important and ever-increasing problem of homelessness.
In giving up their beds for the night and braving the cold, senior level employees, such as David Middleton, from various industries across Worcestershire hope to raise awareness and much needed funds to fight homelessness and poverty across the UK.
The Vehicle Network’s Director David Middleton explains, “I’m an avid Worcester Warriors fan and fully support the work that the Warriors Community Foundation do. One of the areas the Foundation focuses on which I’m very concerned about is the city’s homelessness. These disadvantaged people need our support and our help. In raising money through the CEO Sleepout event I hope we can ease the crisis and decrease the number of homeless sleeping rough on Worcester’s city streets by supporting community run projects that provide safe shelter, hot food, clothing and sanitary supplies.” He adds, “Along with other local business leaders, community leaders, business owners and managers, I’ll camp out overnight at Sixways Stadium on Thursday April 26th 2018. We’ll get a taste of what it’s like to sleep rough on the streets and I’m sure a greater appreciation of the difficulties and struggles these people face on a daily basis. For anyone looking to sponsor me and donate to this fantastic cause, I have set up a Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/david-middletontvn”.
Carol Hart, Head of Warriors Community Foundation says “We are delighted to have David from The Vehicle Network on board as a fundraiser for The Warriors Community Foundation. The Foundation is committed to changing the lives of the disengaged and disadvantaged and those who are isolated within our community.”
Working to support some of the most vulnerable people in Worcestershire, the aim of the Warriors Community Foundation is to create a game of rugby for everyone who wishes to play whilst working with every sector of society. Besides Project Rugby, a programme designed to support people with disabilities or living in low socioeconomic areas, the foundation also supports an initiative which encourages homeless people to get involved in the game. Through these initiatives the foundation can give positive experiences, structure and responsibility to those disengaged and isolated within their community.
