Worcester Warriors have announced the return of a very special event to help raise vital funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
The Acorns Charity Matchday will take place at Sixways on 3 January 2016 and will be held to help support the care Acorns provides for local life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their families.
A number of fundraising activities will take place on the day as Warriors go head-to-head with Harlequins at 3pm. The club have allocated a number of tickets for the match at the exclusive Acorns rate of £28 which includes use of the Charity Lounge and a complementary meal, with a proportion of each ticket sold going directly to Acorns.
In keeping with tradition, Warriors will take to the field wearing special limited-edition Matchday shirts designed by children at Acorns for the Three Counties, the charity’s hospice on the Bath Road. The shirts will also be available to purchase from the Sixways Store in the run-up to the event.
Warriors’ Sam Betty, who has just been announced as the club’s Acorns Player Ambassador for a second year, called on fans and fundraisers to support the event.
Betty said: “This is a great opportunity to have a fantastic day out with friends and family, and the money raised will help make a real difference. My teammates and I visit Acorns regularly, so we know first-hand the high level of care Acorns is able to provide. It’s an honour to help out in whatever way we can.”
Charlotte Anson, corporate partnerships officer at Acorns, said: “Over the years, Acorns and Warriors have built up a fantastic partnership so it’s very exciting that Warriors have announced the return of the Charity Matchday. The buzz around this event really makes it one of the highlights of our fundraising calendar.
“We are so grateful to the club and supporters who have got behind our work brilliantly over the years, particularly as we rely so heavily on fundraising and events like these for the £9 million it costs to continue providing our services.”
In the past year, Acorns for the Three Counties has cared for over 190 children and more than 250 families, including those who are bereaved.
The Acorns tickets for the Matchday will be sold on a first-come first-served basis, and can be purchased by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or 01564 82 5000.
